Lighthouse Medical Billing Services is a privately owned and operated medical billing and consulting company since June 2001, by Susan McKinley to address the need for quality individualized billing and accounts receivable management services to physician practices. In June of 2004, Catherine Johnson joined and became a partner in the company. Our reputation for quality service has led to continued growth due to referrals from satisfied clients.

LMBS currently serves providers throughout the State of Maine. Because we are local, healthcare providers have the opportunity for a direct personal relationship which is essential in building relationships, confidence, trust and respect.

We provide billing services in several specialties and are adding new specialties as we grow. Currently these specialties include: Family Practice, General Practice, Endocrinology, Physical Therapy, Podiatry, Optometry, Chiropractic, Occupational Therapy, Acupuncture, Osteopathic Manipulation, Licensed Social Worker, and Mental Health. We maintain ongoing contact with The Coding Network, a national consulting company, as well as subscription services to several billing and coding newsletters. Each year we take on-going classes for new updates in coding and law changes with Medicare, Anthem and other major insurance carriers. In addition to this, once a year we also take a national coding class to ensure our company is on top of the most current changes and updates throughout the industry.

Our belief is to build a solid relationship with each of our clients. We call on claims immediately if denied to resolve. Claims adjustment and reprocessing are immediate. Aging is called on every 30 days. Ninety nine percent (99% ) of all claims are submitted electronically. One percent (1%) of all claims have to be reprocessed and or submitted vy paper for reasons such has: personal injury, workers comp., terminated I.D.’s, new insurance changes, coordination of benefits issues, pre-existing condition, etc. We are proactive in patient follow-up.
